Services will be held on Monday December 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from McClain-Hays chapel with Rev. Mitchell McDonald and Rev. Jonathan Tullos officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday December 29, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at McClain-Hays. Interment will be in Bond Methodist Cemetery. Wiley Glendon Strahan passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 23,2019 at the age of 87. Mr. Strahan was born March 5, 1932 to Mamie and Leon Strahan inWinston County. Mr. Strahan was a watch maker and jeweler for over 40 years. He managedthe jewelry department at Sears for over 20 years and then started his own jewelry repairbusiness. Wiley proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea. He was a long timevolunteer of the Mississippi Disabled Veterans Association (DAV), where he not only assistedother veterans, but held several officer positions including Senior Commander of his localChapter #56 in Meridian and Statewide Commander from 2011-2012. Mr. Strahan was strong in his faith and a life long member of Druid Hills United MethodistChurch. At Druid Hills he served in several volunteer positions including Trustee Chairman.When he wasn’t working, Wiley could usually be found fishing at his camp on the Tombigbee River. Not only was he a fisherman, but he was known for his cooking and his famous hushpuppies. One of his greatest joys was being Pawpaw to his 5 grandchildren and he enjoyedteaching them to fish and loved attending their sporting events. Wiley is survived by his wife of 64 years, Madeline McKay Strahan, Daughters Janet Harrisonand husband Mickey, Nancy Smith and husband Scott. Grandchildren Stephen, Tamra, and WillHarrison and Quentin and Oliver Smith. Brothers, L.B., Don, and Jerry Strahan and sister MarieCockrell and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter, TamraJean Strahan, his parents, and brothers Douglas, Joseph, and Billy Strahan. Pallbearers are Will Harrison, Quentin Smith, Oliver Smith, Jimmy Cumberland, Gregg Cox,Barney McKay, Mike McKay, and James Strahan. A special thanks to the loving caregivers ofPoplar Springs Nursing Center and Quality Hospice.
