Services for Sam “Bud” William Fortenberry will be held Monday, January 21, 2019, at 2 p.m. from Golden Grove Methodist Protestant Church in Neshoba County with Rev. Phillip Roland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 20, 2018, from 5 until 8 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home and on Monday from 10 a. m. until 2 p.m. at the church. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Fortenberry, 75, of Forest, MS, died Friday, January 18, 2019, at his home. He was a native of Neshoba County and resident of Scott County for the past 43 years. Mr. Fortenberry was a member of Hillsboro Baptist Church in Scott County. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Zona Sharp Fortenberry of Forest; daughters, Linda Brown (Gary), Sheryle Jenkins (Chris), and Lynn Evers (Richard), all of Forest; son, Derrell Wade Fortenberry (Patricia) of Conehatta; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Benjamin Yates Fortenberry of Forest; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Fortenberry was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Alma Fortenberry; daughter, Lisa Ann Fortenberry; sons, William Carl Fortenberry, Dennis Earl Fortenberry, and Ira Lee Fortenberry. Pallbearers are Wade Fortenberry, Halien Fortenberry, Samuel Fortenberry, Trent Mathis, Craig Waller and Brian Kilts. Honorary pallbearers are Trenton Evers, Johnathan Webb, Joe Campbell, and The Tuesday Morning Breakfast Club from Hillsboro Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Golden Grove Cemetery Fund.
