Funeral services for Janice Hagan Fleming will be held Sunday, February 28, 2021, at 2 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Chris Young officiating and vocalist, Dayna Goff. Burial will follow in the Big Oak United Methodist Church cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 28, 2021, from 1 p.m. until service time at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Fleming, 84, of Philadelphia died Thursday, February 18, 2021. A native of Kemper County, she was a graduate of Damascus High School and Valedictorian of her class. She was also a 1956 graduate of EMCC in Scooba where she served as an officer in the Glee Club. She served as a minister’s wife for 49 years until their retirement. She was an artistic flower arranger and loved decorating homes. Mrs. Fleming was a member of The United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Rev. Claude Fleming, Jr. of Philadelphia; son, Claude L. Fleming III (Suzanne) of Nashville; daughter, Susan Barton (Brent) of Senatobia; grandchildren, Claude L. Fleming IV, Mark Fleming, Dustin Stevens (Tiffany); great-grandchildren, Camerann Snell and Hagan Wright Stevens; brother, Wendell Hagan of DeKalb; sister, Lawanda Hagan Vick (Charles) of DeKalb; a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Fleming was preceded in death by her parents, George Henry and Velma Hagan; brother, Dwight Hagan. Pallbearers are Dustin Stevens, Brent Barton, Claude Fleming III, Scott Beddingfield, Wendell Hagan and Todd Vick. Honorary pallbearers are Claude L. Fleming IV “Lee”, Mark Fleming, Camerann Snell, and Hagan Wright Stevens. In lieu of flowers family requests memorials be sent to St. Jude, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
