Funeral services for Brenda Cumberland Nowell will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 2 p.m. from First Baptist Church of Philadelphia with Dr. Dan Howard, Bro. Evan Humphries and Alain Kabore’ officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. McClain-Hays is in charge of arrangements. Ms. Nowell, 72, of Philadelphia died Saturday, May 11, 2024. Brenda was born and raised in Neshoba County and attended Neshoba Central School. After school she completed her education to become a Pharmacy Tech and was employed at several local pharmacies and retired from CLC at First Baptist Church in January of 2024. She loved scrapbooking, calligraphy and gardening. Ms. Nowell was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughters, Valerie McNeil (Kevin) of Magnolia, TX, Tammy Willis (Brian) of Philadelphia; son, Dustin Cumberland (Lindsey) of Midland, TX; grandchildren, Briana McNeil, Abby McNeil, Emalee Willis, Maggie Cumberland, Raeleigh Cumberland, Avery Peavey, Caroline Cumberland, Shayne McNeil, Corey Willis, Riley McNeil, Caleb Willis and Carter Peavey; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Glenda White of Alabama and Linda Walter (Larry) of Madison, MS; brother, Scott Johnson (Karla) of Madison, MS; several nieces, nephews and their families. Ms. Nowell was preceded in death by her first husband, Delane Cumberland; second husband, Jimmy Nowell; parents, A.J. and Iva Johnson; brother, Keith Johnson. Pallbearers, Corey Willis, Caleb Willis, Riley McNeil, Larry Walter, Andrew Johnson and Steven Snuggs.
