(Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson.  He was a native of Bolivar County, MS. Mr. Abney served in the U. S. Army, and shortly after his return from service married his loving wife, Mary Jo Copeland.  His hobbies included fishing and hunting. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mary Jo Abney of Brandon; daughters, Billie Jo Abney and Kristy Abney, both of Pearl; son, David Abney of Brandon; grandchildren, Sean Abney, John Cagle, and Jeremy Abney; great-grandchildren, Jax Khristian, Christopher Thomas and David Noah Cagle; sisters, Diane Jenkins of Florida and Ruth Ratcliff of Jackson; and brothers, Bob Abney of Jackson and Roy Abney of Arkansas.  Mr. Abney was preceded in death by his son, Raymond Allen Abney; parents, Harvey and Irene Abney; one sister and two brothers.Pallbearers are Jeremy Abney, Mike Abney, Freeman Lofton, Ronald Joe Copeland and Donald Ratcliff.
