KELLY TINGLEREV. JON MARTINMr. Eldridge, 88, of Union, died Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. He was a native of Neshoba County. He lived in Rolling Fork from 1968-1990, and then moved to Union where he made his home. Mr. Eldridge was a member and deacon of Enon Baptist Church. He was a retired logger. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII in the South Pacific, where he received the Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Frances Eldridge of Union; daughter, Betty Smith (James) of Union; sons, Norman Eldridge and Mark Eldridge, both of Union; grandchildren, Doug Smith (Chanda) of Union, Erin Eldridge of Douglasville, GA, and Jessa Eldridge of Union; great-grandchildren, Hallie Smith and Hayden Smith; sisters, Ernie Ree Stewart of Vicksburg, Bernice Benson of Union, and Shelby Alford of Pearl; brother, Arvis Eldridge of Union; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Mr. Eldridge was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Maggie Eldridge; and sisters, Verna Mae Hitt and Mavis Creighton.Pallbearers were Bobby Smith, Jimmy Killen, Louis Skinner, Matt Skinner, Nathan Williams and Roger Poole. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Partridge and Earl Cumberland.
