Yvonne Payne Cheatham

Private graveside services will be held in Cedarlawn Cemetery with Dr. Dan Howard officiating. Yvonne Payne Cheatham, 94, of Franklin, NC, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020. Born in Philadelphia, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Clois and Eunice Tolbert Payne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Cheatham; a brother, Jack Payne and a sister, Peggy Coleman. Yvonne worked as Secretary to the School Superintendent for many years in Charlotte County, FL and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Franklin, NC. She is survived by her son, Alton Cheatham and wife Darla and her daughter, Carole Hill both of Franklin, NC; eight brothers and sisters, Mary Ethel Turner, Hoyt Payne (Marjorie), Uhl Payne (Janice), Jo Walters, Weegie Thomas (Robert), Rhonda Thomas all of Philadelphia, MS, Laquita Edmonds of Mooresville, NC, and Glenda Gregory (Jim) of Noxapater, MS; sister-in-law, Rachel Payne of Caledonia, MS; five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held in North Carolina from the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home on September 17, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Greg Rogers and Rev. Mike Chastain officiating. Private graveside services will be held in Philadelphia, MS at Cedarlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers are Bryan Coleman, Greg Coker, Michael Gregory, Paul Payne, Scott Payne, Randy Thomas, Steve Turner and Mark Walters. Honorary pallbearers are nephews, Buddy Payne and Ed Payne and great-nephews, Joseph Killough and James Weathersby.
