W.M. "Dub" Alexander

Funeral services for W.M. (Dub) Alexander will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 3:30 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Bro. Barry Fulton and Bro. Randall Dunaway officiating. Burial will follow in Henrys Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 from 5-8 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Mr. Walter Marvin (WM) Alexander Jr., a lifelong resident of Neshoba County, was born on July 4th, 1929, to Walter Marvin Alexander, Sr. and Evie Lavada Copeland Alexander. He was a dedicated husband to Mattie Sue Benson, whom he married on December 27, 1947, and a loving father to his three children: Rachel, James (Tilton), and Regina. His legacy is one of dedication and creativity. Throughout his life he worked at many jobs with his last being at Deweese Lumber Company, later acquired by Weyerhaeuser, forging lasting friendships along the way. After retiring in 1991, he continued his inventive pursuits, showcasing his passion for craftsmanship by creating unique items like birdhouses, walking canes, baby rocking chairs, and swings. He also enjoyed collecting, buying, and selling “junk” whether it be through the yard sale or auction. Spending his later years putting together puzzles and sharing stories with friends and family. A man of faith, Mr. Alexander was a faithful member of New Zion United Pentecostal Church and, later, The Pentecostal of House Church. Survivors include his daughter, Rachel Warren and husband Ray of Union, MS, James “Tilton” Alexander and wife Charlotte of Sheridan, Arkansas, Regina Fortenberry and husband John Pat of Union, MS; six grandchildren, Rhonda Bailey (Chris), James Warren, Andrea Gardener (David) Sabra Stubblefield (Brandon), Bridget Rhodes (Whitney), Sarah Kate Lindberg (Kevin); four step-grandchildren, Tommy, Tony, Timmy and Tammy; 18 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by his parents; both wives, Mattie Sue Benson and Arcola Browning Alexander; as well as his siblings: George Alexander, Lawson Alexander, Biddie Lynn Hardy, Bonnie Ruth Wilson and Nancy Tolbert. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to his dear friend Terry Swanner, the Collinsville Senior Care Center, and devoted friends for their support to him in his final years. Pallbearers at his funeral service include James Warren, David Gardner, Chris Bailey, Brandon Stubblefield, Andy Bailey, Stanley Tolbert, Whitney Rhodes and Kevin Lindberg. Mr. Walter Marvin (WM) Alexander will be remembered for his creativity, dedication to his family, and unwavering faith.
