William "Ivan" Atkinson

Funeral services for William “Ivan” Atkinson will be held Friday, September 13, 2024 at 12 noon from Big Oak Church in Kemper County with Bro. Ben Jones and Bro. Davey Wilkinson officiating. Burial will follow in Big Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, September 13, 2024 at 11 a.m. until service time at the church. McClain-Hays is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Atkinson, 89, of Preston died Sunday, September 8, 2024.

Mr. Ivan was born in Preston, MS and lived there his whole life and was a veteran of the United States MS Army National Guard. He operated Home Oil Company Service Station in DeKalb, MS for 15 plus years and drove a gas truck for McDade Oil for 27 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he loved sports, fishing and spending time with his grandson, Flynt and was a dedicated follower of Kemper Academy Sporting Events. Mr. Atkinson was a member of Big Oak Church.

Survivors include his son, Casey Atkinson (Carrie); grandson, Flynt Atkinson; a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Atkinson was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette George Atkinson; parents, Frank and Arlene Partridge Atkinson; sister, Dorothy Joe Hanna; half-sister, Frances Atkinson.

Pallbearers, Jeff George, Alex George, Curt Skipper, Kameron Ferguson, Peyton George, Paxton George.
