Wallace Cox

Funeral services for Wallace B. Cox will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 3 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Dr. Dan Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 1 p.m. until service time at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Mr. Wallace Brown Cox, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. He was born August 19, 1926 in the Spring Creek Community of Neshoba County. He lived his entire life within two miles of where he was born. He operated a cattle farm, tree farm and equipment business. He took pleasure in overhauling tractors until he was 85 years old. He served as Neshoba County Supervisor for District 2 for 12 years. Mr. Cox helped to raise money on behalf of the Leader Dogs for the Blind at Lions Clubs Conventions by giving speeches all over the United States. He was an inspiration to many. He never treated his blindness as a disability and never let it stop him from doing anything he set his mind on. He loved deer hunting and the fellowship with the members of the deer camp. After he could no longer see, he continued to go to the woods where he would sit and listen to the sounds of the deer hunt. Mr. Cox was a member and a deacon at First Baptist Church of Philadelphia and really enjoyed the discussions that they had in the adult Sunday School Class. He is survived by his son, Bill Cox (Rhonda Cochran) of Powder Springs, GA. Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Molly Cox; his parents, Jesse and Mattie Lou Seales Cox; sisters, Edna Earle Jackson (Glenn), Clara Fulton (Ray) and Margaret Morrow (Cook); brother, Aubrey Cox. Special thanks to Beth Johnson and Barbara Bates and all the many dear caregivers for their devoted care and love for our precious loved one. Memorials may be made to the Child Care Ministries of First Baptist Church of Philadelphia. Pallbearers, Dan Stokes, John Jackson, Bobby Rea, Tommy Fulton, Joey Blount and John Harmon.
