Graveside service for Virginia Kight will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 2 p.m. from Cedarlawn Cemetery with Dr. Dan Howard officiating. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. until departure at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mary Virginia Kight, 78, passed away at Neshoba General Nursing Home on Sunday, February 13, 2022. Born on August 29, 1943, in Perkinston, MS, Virginia or “Ginger” was the first born to the late Marion and Raymond Clyde Clark. After graduating from Louise High School, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Southern Mississippi and her master’s from William Carey. Following in her parents’ footsteps, Ms. Kight spent 33 years as a public school educator. In addition to the hundreds of students she impacted were many four-legged children she cared for and loved, Skipper, Rex, Brownie, Tiger, Prince, Ruby and Jed to name a few; however, they all came second to her son, Jimmy. Survivors include one son Jimmy Kight (Mary Kathryn) of Starkville; grandchildren, Claire and Charlie Kight; sister, Lynda Luke of Madison; brother, Raymond Clark (Debbie) of Conahatta; step-sons, Ken Kight of Nanih Waiya, John Kight (Melonie) of Saltillo, Wes Kight (Jennifer) of Nanih Waiya and Rodney Kight of Philadelphia; step-daughter, Donna Nye (Melzar) of Macon, GA; a host of nieces and nephews. Ms. Kight was preceded in death by parents, Clyde and Marion Clark; brother-in-law, Bobby Luke. Pallbearers, Rodney Kight, Wes Kight, John Kight, Clark Luke, Benjamin Luke, Jared Clark. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Philadelphia, MS, or the The CARE Fund in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University.
