Services for Toris C. Guthrie will be held Friday, February 8, 2019, at 11 a.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Dr. Wayne Hill and Rev. Mack Alford officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Guthrie, 90, of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at his home. He was a native and lifelong resident of Neshoba County and attended Coldwater School. He began working as a lineman for CEPA on April 9, 1949, and retired on June 1, 1993, as a branch manager after 44 years of service. He served in the U. S. Army. Mr. Guthrie was a member of Beacon Street Baptist Church in Philadelphia. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Helen Guthrie of Philadelphia; daughter, Gloria Crechale (Bob) of Brandon; grandchildren, Anderson, Anne Maree and Bob Crechale II; sister, Shirley Belk of Union; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Guthrie was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Eunice Guthrie.
