Funeral services for Tom Wallace Cox will be held Saturday, December 18,2021 at 11 am from First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Tommy Jennings officiating. Burial will follow in Sandtown Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 18,2021 at First United Methodist Church from 9 am until service time. McClain-Hays is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Cox, 84, of Philadelphia died Monday, December 13, 2021. Tom was a native of Neshoba County and a longtime resident of Philadelphia. He was a graduate of MSU with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering and also participated in ROTC and served in the U.S. Army and the Mississippi National Guard. He was the owner of Cox Development Company and served as county engineer for Neshoba and Leake Counties. Mr. Cox was a member of First United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Trustees. He was a mason and a shriner, member of Philadelphia Country Club, member of couples bridge club and enjoyed his times at Cox Deer Camp. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Webb Cox of Philadelphia; daughters, Terri McCarver (Tommy) of Brandon and Carla Martin (Ike) of Philadelphia; son, Dr. Tommy Cox (LeeAnne) of Lake Cormorant, MS; grandchildren, Dr. Kayla Bryant (Stephen), Allison Long (Dr. Ben), Bailey Anderson (Austin), Meagan Anthony (Brent), Macy Rhodes (Tanner), Isaac Martin, Marshall Cox (Gina) and John Bailey Cox; great-grandchildren, William and Margaret Bryant, Randall Wallace and Ross Long, Webb and Wynn Anthony; brother-in-law, George Herman Cumberland; sisters-in-law, Ann Webb and Carol Webb; numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Mr. Cox was preceded in death by an infant son, James Bailey Cox; parents, Les and Thomas Cox; sister, Katherine Tingle. Pallbearers are his grandsons: Marshall Cox, John Bailey Cox, Isaac Martin, Brent Anthony, Tanner Rhodes, Stephen Bryant, Dr. Ben Long and Austin Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are the members of Cox Deer Camp, Philadelphia Country Club golfers, the couple bridge club members, the Fellowship Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church and Deanie Miller, Aubrey Key Cox, Charlie Ervin, Cecil Price, Ferrell Alexander, Sparky Bryan, Dr. Mike Shrock, Larry Stribling, Dr. Kent Stribling, W. G. Yates, Jr. and his nieces and nephews. The family requests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
