A graveside service for Mr. Tommy Smith will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. from Coldwater Cemetery in Neshoba County with Rev. Dennis Duvall officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday at McClain-Hays Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until time of departure. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Smith, 81, of Philadelphia, died Friday, January 1, 2021, at Neshoba General Hospital. A native and longtime resident of Neshoba County, he retired from D & W Tire on July 1, 2020, after 53 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family. He loved to preach the gospel, and was a Gideon for over 14 years. He always enjoyed handing out bibles. Mr. Smith was a member of Hope Baptist Church. Survivors include daughter, Theresa Stewart (Jimmie) of Mize; son, David Earl “Scooter” Smith (Christy) of Philadelphia; three grandchildren, Ryan Cockrell (Brittany), Chloe Smith, Emmy Lou Smith; two great-grandchildren, Eli Cockrell and Charlie Cockrell; sisters, Joeann Killebrew (Bubba) of Houston, TX, Yvette Williams (Horace) of Philadelphia, Mary Quinn of Brandon, Rachael Tucker (Gary) of Brandon, Linda Chennault (Gene) of Kosciusko, Margaret Peebles (Steve) of Philadelphia; brothers, Larry Smith (Betty) of Philadelphia, Scottie Smith (Robin) of Philadelphia; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Louise Smith; grandson, Neal Cockrell; parents, Pid and Grace Smith; and brother-in-law, Sonny Quinn. Pallbearers are Charlie Barrett, Steven Clark, Steve Cumberland, Harrison “Hippie” Rushing, Bryan Clark, and Greg Acton.
