Services for Thomas Hardy Maxey, Sr., will be held Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Bro. Mitchell Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the Wheatfield Methodist Cemetery in Dixon. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2022, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Mr. Maxey, 93, of Dixon, died Monday, October 31, 2022, at his home. He was born and raised in Neshoba County and attended Bloomo schools. He joined the U.S. Army right after school and was stationed in Alaska. He was employed at Wells-Lamont for several years before joining the family carpentry business in 1973. He loved hunting, fishing, and gardening; and dearly loved his grandchildren. Mr. Maxey was a member of Pine Grove Church of God in Dixon. Survivors include his wife, Betty Maxey of Dixon, MS; daughter, Freda Stuart of Dixon, MS; son, Thomas Maxey (Mechelle) of Philadelphia, MS; granddaughters, Lindsey Stuart of Dixon, MS, and Courtney Stepp (Michael) of Philadelphia, MS; grandsons, Bryant Maxey of Dixon, MS, Curt Maxey (Melanie) of Dixon, MS, and Ryan Eakes of Starkville, MS; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and their families. Mr. Maxey was preceded in death by parents, Bryant and Maude Maxey; brothers, Cary Maxey, Frankie Lee Maxey, Jack Maxey, and Clayton Maxey; sisters, Hazel McHarty, and Maudine Hendrix. Pallbearers are Mitchell Belk, Jess Bell, Dustyn Smith, Ryan Eakes, Johnny Page, and Chad Cumberland. Honorary pallbearers are Randolph Savell, Bennie Lee Adkins, and Norman Cole. In lieu of flowers the family requests all memorials be made to Pine Grove Church of God Dixon, Ms.
