George Townsend

Funeral services for George Townsend will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 2 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Toby Stovall officiating. Burial will follow in Fellowship Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 1 p.m. until service time at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Mr. Townsend, 64, of Philadelphia died Sunday, April 21, 2024. George was born and raised in Neshoba County and attended Neshoba Central School. He worked in the family logging business for over 30 years. He loved to fish and tinker and was known as a good mechanic. Mr. Townsend was Baptist by faith. Survivors include daughter, Heather Townsend of Philadelphia; son, Kyle Townsend of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Kylie, Zach and Kristen Sanchez; mother, Ruby Townsend of Philadelphia; sister, Patsy Drake of Philadelphia; brother-in-law, William Chancey of South Carolina; several nieces, nephews and their families. Mr. Townsend was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Townsend; father, Billy Townsend; brother B.J. Townsend. Pallbearers, Jason Pigg, Buddy Adams, Zach Sanchez, Bobby Hall, Bobby May, Randy Townsend, Jayden Pigg and Kody Drake.
