Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday January 27, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. from Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery (Leake County) with the Rev. Don Cook officiating. McClain-Hays is in charge of arrangements. Ted P. Swope left this world on January 20, 2021 at the age of 82, surrounded by family at home in Lewes, DE after battling cancer. He cracked jokes and rolled his eyes at our bad ones until the end. He is survived by his wife Laudean who was his high school sweetheart in Edinburg. He always claimed she was too pretty for him, but she could not resist his sweet nature and country boy charm. He also leaves behind his older sister Betty Langston and his big brother Omar (Sonny). Though Ted lived hundreds of miles from both of them, they remained close despite the distance. Ted is also survived by two children, Darrell and Karen, who knew him as a loving and encouraging father. While he didn’t spoil them like he did the grandkids, he taught them the value of hard work, honesty and the unbreakable bonds of family. As the Best Grandaddy in the Universe to five grandchildren, he would attend either a tea party or a baseball game with the same enthusiasm. He cherished spending time with all of them and passed along his love for nature and his best apple pie and pecan brittle recipes. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Wounded Warriors Project, https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org on his behalf.
