Suanne Holland Adams Williamson passed away peacefully in her home on February 9, 2025. Born on September 8, 1940 to W.H. and Sula Holland in Philadelphia, Mississippi, Suanne was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew her. As an only child, she grew up nurturing a deep sense of family, a quality she carried throughout her life. Suanne graduated from Philadelphia High School and continued her education at MSCW then graduated with a degree in secretarial science from the University of Mississippi. There, she met Ralph Adams and they married in 1962. They then moved to Norfolk, VA as Ralph served 4 years the US Navy then they returned to MS and began their family in Hattiesburg. Throughout his career, they relocated to Portage, MI, St. Simons Island, GA, and eventually to Houston, TX. After becoming a widow in 1995, Suanne returned to Philadelphia to care for her aging mother in her childhood home. In 2013, Suanne met and married Sam Williamson of Philadelphia, MS, who brought joy and companionship into her later years. She devoted much time to music, as she began playing the piano in church at the age of 12. Later she added playing the organ to her list of musical talents. In high school, she played the oboe in the band as well as performed as a drum majorette. Her children recall happy times of singing around the piano and going Christmas caroling. Suanne served as an executive secretary part-time from 1974 to 1987 plus volunteered at church, in community service organizations, and in her children’s activities. A highlight of her life was singing in choirs and community musicals, but where her heart was the most was with family and friends at home. As a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, she used her gift of encouragement through words and actions, sending letters and sharing meals with those who touched her heart. Suanne was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, and their daughter, Holly. She is survived by her husband, Sam Williamson; her children, Doug Adams and Missy Holmes (Tim); her grandchildren, Ben Adams (Cynthia), Calah Adams, Josh Holmes, and Ashton Holmes; and her great-grandson, Milo Adams; with another on the way. The family invites loved ones and friends to join them in celebrating Suanne's life on February 12, 2025, at 1 PM, with visitation beginning at 11 AM.
