Services for Sarah Darby McKay will be held Monday, August 26, 2019, at 11 a.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Chris Young officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 25, 2019, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. McKay, 85, of Philadelphia, died Friday, August 23, 2019. A native of Neshoba County, Mrs. McKay attended East Central Community College and Mississippi University for Women where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Speech. She loved teaching her students at Philadelphia High School, bridge, the fair, travel trailer life, and most of all she loved people, especially her son Lan and grandson Allan Thomas. Mrs. McKay was a lifelong member of The First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her son, Allan Thomas Pickle, Jr. (Lan) of Ridgeland; grandson, Allan Thomas Pickle, III; sister, Rachel Darby Evans of Philadelphia; nephews, Michael Darby Evans (Mitzie) of Starkville and Jon Scott Evans (Blair) of Germantown, Tn ; and a host of great nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by her husbands, Allan Thomas Pickle, Sr., Dr. Warren Fulton, Kenneth McKay, and her longtime companion Sleepy Posey; parents, Irvin Dewitt “Bud” Darby and Jessie Wood Darby; sister, Elizabeth Kay Darby. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The First United Methodist Church of Philadelphia or a favorite charity.
