Sara Hester Hutcheson

Services for Sara Hester Hutcheson will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of McClain-Hays Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Young officiating.  Burial will follow in Cedarlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 13, 2018, from 9 a.m. until service time at McClain-Hays Funeral Home.  McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hutcheson, 103, of Philadelphia, died Sunday, November 4, 2018. A native of Philadelphia, she graduated from Philadelphia High School in 1933 and started Mississippi State college for Women (now MUW) and graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi in 1937.  It was while she was at The University of Alabama in summer school that she met Pete Hutcheson, a very handsome Southern Entrepreneur.  They married in 1940 and lived in Selma, Alabama for about 50 years where Pete owned and operated The H & H Concrete business. Eight years  after Pete’s death, Sara returned “home” to take care of her siblings. She was an avid Bridge player.  Mrs. Hutcheson was a member of First United Methodist Church.  God, family and friends have always been the most important part of  her life. Survivors include her son Jack; grandson, John; two grandchildren, Keenan and Kairi. Preceded in death by her parents, John and Harriet Hester;  siblings, Margaret, Henry and Toots.
