Graveside services for Sallie (Yvonne) Thompson Darling will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 2:00 pm at New Harmony Cemetery. Rev. James Lewis will officiate. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021, 12:00- 1:15 pm from McClain- Hays Chapel. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Darling, 85, of Bentonia, died September 6, 2021. She was born in Kemper County and raised on a farm in Neshoba County. She attended Zephyr Hill School and graduated in 1953. Mrs. Darling attended New Harmony Baptist Church for several years and then the family moved to Ridgeland, MS. She worked at Ridgeland Baptist Church for several years as the Children and Outreach Director. She then moved to Houston, TX. She retired from Allstate Insurance Company after 30 years. She loved to travel and cook. Mrs. Darling, a devout Christian, was saved at age 10. Survivors include her daughters, Sherry Brock (Dennis) of Kansas City, MO, and Susan Lancaster (Mark) of Flora, MS; son, Morris Howell (Emmie) of Tempe, AZ; sisters, Edwina Thompson Pope and Brenda Thompson Hindman (Danny); brothers, Kenneth Thompson (Joan) and Gary Dewayne Thompson (Robin); grandchildren, Sarah Yvonne, Stephen Brock (Eugenia), Josh Howell, Skye Howell, Clint Lancaster (Alana) and Jamie Vandevere (Howard); 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Mrs. Darling was preceded in death by her sister, Bobbie Thompson Blocker (Curtis); brothers, Curtis Mack Thompson and Jimmy Thompson.
