Graveside services for Ruth Richie Carter will be held Saturday, May 9, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. from Cedarlawn Cemetery with Dr. Dan Howard and Rev. Mack Alford officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Carter, 89, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, May 7, 2020, at St. Dominic Hospital. She was a native and lifelong resident of Philadelphia/Neshoba County. She retired from Farmers Home Administration where she was a supervisor at the Philadelphia office. Mrs. Carter was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Philadelphia where was a Chancel Choir member, taught Sunday school, and served as church secretary for a number of years. Survivors include husband of 68 years, Harry J. Carter; son, Jeff Carter, both of Philadelphia; sister, Willie Mae Lott of Madison; brother, Richard Richie of Oxford; several nieces and nephews and their families. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by parents, Emmitt and Ida Richie; brother, E. J. Richie; and sisters, Illene Gordon and Mildred Blocker. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, or a favorite charity.
