Roma Stokes Cheatham

Funeral services for Roma Stokes Cheatham will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 3:30 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Pool and Rev. Ronnie Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in the Coy Cemetery in Preston. Visitation will be held Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until service time. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Cheatham, 89, of Preston, died Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at her home. She was a native and longtime resident of the Coy Community in Kemper County. She was a graduate of Bond High School where she played and excelled in basketball (53-2 record). Mrs. Cheatham was a partner in Cheatham’s Mini Mart in the Coy Community. Survivors include her children, Greg Cheatham (Vicki) of Coy, Brad Cheatham of Coy, Chris Cheatham (Trina) of Philadelphia; grandchildren, April Creekmore (Mike), Russell Cheatham (Brandy), Daniel Cheatham (Dekota), Katelyn Cheatham, Keri Beth Stokes (Michael), Griffin Cheatham; great-grandchildren, Ryder Cheatham, Luke Stokes, Roma Jane Cheatham, Zane, Bella and Chase Creekmore. Mrs. Cheatham was preceded in death by husband, Clois Cheatham; father, Daniel “Web” Stokes; mother, Theolia Green Stokes; stepmother, Frances Stokes.
