Funeral services for Richard McDonald will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 11 a.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Justin Craft and Rev. Andrew Black officiating. Burial will follow at Bloomfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday June 14, 2023 from 5 until 7 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Mr. McDonald, 76, of Philadelphia, died Sunday, June 11, 2023. Richard was a native of Newton County and a graduate of Beulah Hubbard High School. He worked as a Master Electrician most of his working life until retirement. When he was younger he enjoyed participating in sports and was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He enjoyed helping others and spending time with friends. Mr. McDonald was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Kaye McDonald of Philadelphia; daughters, Tracey Lane (Jeff) of Collinsville and Kristy Wooldridge (Jeremy) of Collinsville; step-daughter, Erin Rogers of Atlanta, GA; step-son, Jason Boswell (Maggie) of Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren, Matthew Lane, Rachel Black (Andrew), Mason Wooldridge, Mallory George (Landon), Maggie Rose (Braxton), McKaye Rogers, Bragg Rogers, Cameron Boswell, Walker Boswell and Layleigh Davis; two great-grandchildren, Everett George and John Owen Black; sister, Delores Sturm (Buddy) of Collinsville; brothers, Randy McDonald (Sheila) of Meridian; Don McDonald (Debbie) of Franklin, Ronnie Fleming (Teresa) of Charlotte, N.C. and Tony Fleming (Karen) of Tupelo. Mr. McDonald is preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Elaine McDonald; brothers, Joe and Otis Lee McDonald, Jr. Pallbearers are Matthew Lane, Mason Wooldridge, Bragg Rogers, Cameron Boswell, Walker Boswell, Landon George and Braxton Rose.
