Graveside services for Bro. John Burkes will be held Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. from McLain Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Walt Tessier officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangement. Bro. John Burkes was born on July 15, 1928 and died March 20, 2022, on Sunday Eve of Saint Joseph feast Day . John was the third child of Roscoe and Mary Burkes deceased. He was a resident of Kemper Care Center. John and his wife Joyce were pastors and teachers. He served in the CO H 508Th PAR INF REGT 82 Div as a paratrooper of WWII. Bro. John is survived by his son, Rev. JC Burkes and wife, Becky of Monroe LA; grandson, Jeremy Burkes, Master Sgt. 20 SF and wife, Alisha; great-grandsons, Bridger and Jon Easton; great granddaughters, Kim, Ava and Amber; granddaughter, Cristen and her Mom, Linda; grandson, Scott and wife, Janna; granddaughter, Cristy and husband, Josh; sister, Ethel and husband, Houston; brother, Ollie L. and wife, Judy; brother-in-law, Jean; sister-in-law, Linda Carol; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Bro. Burkes was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce and his young son Buddy.
