Randy Cheatham

Funeral services for Randy Cheatham will be held Friday, July 23, 2021 at 10 a.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Dr. Dan Howard and Rev. Mack Alford officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Mr. Cheatham, 78, of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, July 20, 2021. Thomas Randolph (Randy) Cheatham, Jr. was born March 2, 1943. He was married to Virginia Pettit Cheatham for 56 years. He worked for Commercial Credit for 10 ½ years before moving back to Philadelphia to work for Perry Construction Company for 3 ½ years and then retired from The Citizens Bank after 38 years as Vice President/ Loan Officer. Mr. Cheatham was a Neshoba County native and a graduate of Philadelphia High School in 1961,where he excelled in basketball. He attended East Central Junior College where he played basketball for 2 years. He served in the National Guard for 39 years in the 367th Maintenance Company and the 298th Headquarters Unit. He was activated to serve during Desert Storm/Desert Shield at Fort Hood, Texas. He enjoyed being a handyman at home and the bank, traveling to watch his granddaughter play soccer, and taking trips to the east and west coast after his retirement. He was known as the popcorn popper at the bank and the pork chop fryer at The Neshoba County Fair, cabin #276. Mr. Cheatham was a member and former deacon at First Baptist Church where he loved being a greeter. He is survived by his wife, Virginia P. Cheatham; daughter, Jennifer (Scott) Bounds; son, Chris (Stephanie) Cheatham; grandchildren; Cody (Robin), Casea and Cate Cheatham; great-grandchild, Weston Cheatham; sister-in-law, Dianne Cheatham of Olive Branch, MS; several nieces, nephews and their families. Mr. Cheatham was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph and Odie Zell Cheatham; brother, Dwight Cheatham. In lieu of flowers family requests memorials be made to Gideons International, First Baptist Church or the charity of your choice. Pallbearers are Cody Cheatham, Dustin Cheatham, Kevin Cheatham, Ross Cheatham, Brad Copeland, Steve Hardy, Anthony Stroup and Brad Bounds.
