Paul Junior Mowdy

Services for Paul “Junior” Mowdy will be held Saturday, May 8, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. from Bethsaida Baptist Church with Rev. Billy James officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday from 1:00 until time of service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Mowdy, 85, died Tuesday, May 4, 2021. He was a native of the Bethsaida Community in Neshoba County. He worked 44 years until retirement for Jitney-Jungle in Jackson, Meridian and Philadelphia. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Mowdy was Baptist by faith. Survivors include wife Geraldine Bishop Mowdy of Philadelphia; sons, Paul Wilbur Mowdy (Angela) of Meridian, Richard Earl Mowdy and Robert Dewayne Mowdy, both of Philadelphia; daughter, Brenda Carol Northam (Joe) of Stella, MO; eight grandchildren, Derek Mowdy, David Mowdy, Melissa Sorrick, Amber Fortenberry, Jeremy Jones, Heather Coble, Walt Northam, John Northam; 17 great-grandchildren, Blaine Fortenberry, Jace Fortenberry, Olivia Fortenberry, Elliott Sorrick, Noah Mowdy, Alice Mowdy, Maysen Jones, Sawyer Jones, Adler Jones, Kash Coble, Hattie Coble, Frances Northam, John Melton Northam, Amanda Northam, Kristen Northam, Brandon Northam, Miyah Northam; sister, Dorothy Wilkerson (Bob) of Indiana; brother, James Mowdy (Connie) of Philadelphia; sister-in-law, Faye Mowdy of Meridian; numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. Mr. Mowdy was preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Lunie Mowdy; siblings, Kenneth Mowdy, Clinton Mowdy, and Lorene Doner. Pallbearers are Derek Mowdy, David Mowdy, Jeremy Jones, John Northam, Dan Sorrick, and Chris Fortenberry.
