Mrs. Dedrickson, 87, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, at her residence in Mobile, AL. Nita, as she was affectionally known to her family and friends, was born on November 19, 1937, at Deemer Lumber Camp outside of Philadelphia, MS to the late William Joseph and Eunice Stovall Avara.
For many years, Nitas was an extremely talented cosmetologist/hair stylist, in high demand and well-loved by her customers. Nita’s infectious personality, joyful laugh and bright smile would light up any room she was in and she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include brother, Robert Curtis Avara (Brenda); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; Nita is survived by her lifelong friends, Lynn and Howard Hogg—her “sister by another mother”.
Mrs. Dedrickson was preceded in death by her parents, William Joseph and Eunice Avara; husband, Lloyd Dedrickson; sisters, Nytus Avara Ricks and Dorothy Avara Bonner; brothers, William Henry and James Ottis Avara.
Nita’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to her wonderful caregivers for the past several years, Michelle and Ken Partridge.
