Services for Odessa R. Whitehead will be held Sunday, April 14, 2019, at 4 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Beth Miller and Rev. Tom Sorrell officiating. Burial will follow in Sandtown Cemetery in Neshoba County. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Whitehead, 88, of Ridgeland, MS, died Friday, April 12, 2019, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. A native of Neshoba County, Odessa grew up on a farm with five brothers and two sisters. After she married her late husband Bennie in 1949 they moved to Madison County, where she lived for most of her life. Odessa was employed as a cashier for 20 years at Southern Pipe & Supply Company. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ridgeland. Survivors include son, Jerry Whitehead (Wanniese) of Philadelphia; daughter-in-law, Debra Whitehead McKee of DeKalb; grandchildren, Sid Whitehead, Ben Whitehead (Kylie) and Shelia Cooley (Heath); great-grandchildren, Bailey, Elissa, Ellie, Brady, Mason, Izzy, Dade, Matt and Josh; sister, Marvel Crawford of Philadelphia; brother, Charley Robertson of Philadelphia; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Whitehead was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bennie C. Whitehead; sons, Ricky Charles Whitehead and Danny Sherman Whitehead; brothers, Medric “Med” Robertson, James Vardaman “Sock” Robertson, Bobby Gene “Bob” Robertson, Tully Alton “Hootie” Robertson; and sister, Lottie Deloris “Dee” Robertson Gressett.
