Waldo Mitchell

Services will be held for Mr. Waldo Mitchell on Sunday, November 29, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. from Clarks Chapel United Methodist Church in Kemper County with Rev. David Keller and Bro. Jim Wall officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:30 until time of service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Mitchell, 88, died Thursday, November 26, 2020, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. A native of the Cleveland Community of Kemper County, he was a longtime Meridian resident. He was retired founder and manager of Lauderdale County Federal Credit Union, now known as First Mississippi Federal Credit Union. He was former owner of Mitchell Tire & Battery in Meridian. He farmed horses and cattle in Kemper County after retirement. Mr. Mitchell was a member of Clarks Chapel United Methodist Church and former board member. He was a member of the Cleveland Charge Barbeque Club. Mr. Mitchell served in the U. S. Army in Korea. Survivors include wife, Reba Mitchell of DeKalb; children, Bruce (Crystal) Mitchell of Bailey, MS, Greg (Janice) Mitchell of the Cleveland Community in Kemper, Julie Mitchell (Jeff) Peden of Meridian; grandchildren, Mason Clark Mitchell, Madison Mitchell (Zach) Bond, Eli Mitchell Peden; sister, Hallaine May of Moscow; and several nieces, nephews and their families. Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by wife, Sadie Vick Mitchell; parents, Clark and Paula Mitchell; siblings, R. C. Mitchell, Willie Jim Mitchell, and Barbara Janell Mitchell. Pallbearers are Ryan Ishee, Wesley Hilton, George Cossar, Jim Wall, Mason Mitchell, and Zach Bond.
