Mona Nell Cheatham

March 26, 1934 — February 21, 2019

Services for Nell Cheatham will be held Saturday, February 23, 2019, at 1 p.m. at McClain-Hays Chapel with Dr. Wayne Hill, Rev. Mack Alford, and Dr. Dan Howard officiating.  Burial will follow in Cedarlawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Friday, February 22, 2019 from  5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral  Home.  McClain-Hays is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Cheatham, 84, of Philadelphia, passed away surrounded by family Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Neshoba County Nursing Home. She was a native and lifelong resident of Neshoba County and graduated high school from Linwood.  She worked as Secretary for Beacon Street Baptist for 28 years until she retired in 2002.  She loved her family, and enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and reading.  She was known for her beautiful afghans that she hand crocheted.  Mrs. Cheatham was a member of Beacon Street Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Robbie Cheatham and wife Pam, Reina Coats and husband Benjie, Kevin Cheatham and wife Jackie all of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Ross Cheatham and wife Jessica of Philadelphia, Ben Cheatham and wife Kate of Flowood, Caroline Cheatham of Philadelphia, Ian and Shawn Smith of Mariposa, California; great-grandchild, Thomas Cheatham of Philadelphia; sister-in-law, Sue Lewis of Philadelphia. Mrs. Cheatham was preceded in death by her husband, Creed Cheatham; mother, Eschol Lewis, and father, R.G. Lewis; brother, Rex Lewis; son, Philip Smith. Pallbearers will be Ben Cheatham, Ross Cheatham, Raymond Bradley, Forest Bridges, Troy Hight, Mack Jones, Larry Nicholson, and Steve Wilkerson.
