Nancy Joyner passed away on February 14, 2025 at Regency Hospital after a lingering illness.
Nancy was born on April 8, 1946 to Joseph Claude and Mildred Jayroe Sharp and attended House School and Neshoba Central High School. After graduating she worked at Neshoba General Hospital for many years as an insurance clerk and secretary to the hospital administrator. She later went on to work at Riley Hospital in Meridian. She continued her career at Internal Medicine Clinic working with several doctors’ offices with insurance billing. Nancy had many friends who came to the hospital and always called for her to help them with their insurance claims. She loved her work and meeting people.
Nancy loved her family and most of all when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were born and later called her “Gran”. Even during her illness, Nancy delighted in talking and face-timing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren on the phone. It always made her day more exciting.
Nancy also loved her church, church family and singing in the choir. She was so happy to go church even in her last few weeks of life. Most of all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who came into her life as a teenager. She was the oldest of five children in her family when growing up in the Bethsaida Community and was very close to her brothers and sisters even being appointed the boss of them when her parents were gone to the grocery store.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Jerry Joyner; daughter, Laura (Nathan) Davis; son, Scott (Jodie) Joyner; grandchildren, Keely (Trent) Bergeron, Tory (Michael) Davis, Walker Joyner and Chase Joyner; great-grandchildren, Lilah Wallace, Rowan Perdue, Jack Bergeron and another little one on the way; sisters, Lynda (Don) Crawford and Sherian (Todd) Cecchini; brother, Dewayne (Judy) Sharp; she is lovingly remembered by a multitude of nieces and nephews.
