Services for Nancy Auline Hiett Harris will be held Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of McClain-Hays Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Smith, Rev. Pam Smith and Rev. Kevin Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, July 9, 2018, from 5 until 8 p. m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Harris, 80, born January 15, 1938, in Irondale, AL, spent most of her life in Philadelphia, MS. She attended (class of 56) Philadelphia High School. A Christian by faith, she was a member of the Church of Philadelphia, a past member of Crossway Community Church, First Baptist Church, Trinity Baptist Church, and co-founder of Faith Fellowship Church, in all of which she taught Sunday School.She was married to Johnie M. Harris, Jr., of Philadelphia for over 61 years, and said it was the happiest years of her life.At age 16 she started working at various places in Philadelphia, one of which was US Electrical Motors. She then began her nursing career earning a Master’s Degree in Nursing and Management from UMMC. Her nursing career expanded over 26 years and ultimately led to starting and directing the ADN Nursing Program at ECCC in Decatur, MS. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Johnie M. Harris, Jr., of Philadelphia; daughter, Theresa “Terri” Harris Thomas (Kevin) of Saraland, AL; grandson, Wade Davis (Ashley) of Saraland, AL; granddaughter, Brandi Davis of Saraland, AL; nephew-foster son, Johnie C. Osborne (Vicky) of Philadelphia; great-granddaughter, Sydney Davis of Saraland, AL; great-grandsons, Seth Davis and Samuel Davis of Saraland, AL; two aunts, one uncle and several nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lenita Carol ”Needie” Harris of Saraland, AL; a son, Ryan Tyler Harris of Philadelphia; parents, Thomas E. “TomBoy” and Bonita Powell Hiett of Philadelphia; two sisters, Mary Carolyn Hiett of Philadelphia; Shirley Hiett Bartsch and her husband, Joseph Clement Bartsch of Bossier City, LA.
