Myrvene Mowdy Shannon

Services for Myrvene Mowdy Shannon will be held Monday, June 10, 2019, at 11 a. m. from Bethsaida Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Winstead and Rev. Billy James officiating.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held Sunday, June 9, 2019, from 5 until 8 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home.  McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Mrs. Shannon, 90, of Union, died Saturday, June 8, 2019, at J. G. Alexander Nursing Home. She was a native and longtime resident of the Bethsaida Community.  She was very active in her grandchildren’s lives and an avid crocheter.   Mrs. Shannon was a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church.   Survivors include sons, Carl (Sylvia) Shannon of Philadelphia, Bruce Shannon and friend, Kelly, of Union; three grandchildren, Derek (Carrie) Shannon, Mamie (Josh) Thompson, and Kurt Shannon; five great-grandchildren, Cruz and Harper Shannon, Jack Thomas, Ruth and Carson Thompson; sisters, Christene Truhett of Union and Linda Mowdy of Philadelphia; numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Mrs. Shannon was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Shannon; parents, M. G. and Annie Mowdy; siblings, Jane Williams, H. M., W. M., Cletus, and Carson Mowdy.
