KERMIT SHARP Zudye Belle Willis Smith lived a long and active life and died peacefully at Riggs Manor, Raymond, MS, on December 4th at age 102. Mrs. Smith was a native of Neshoba County. She graduated from Arlington High School and East Central Community College. After attending Mississippi Southern, she graduated from Mississippi College with B. A. and Master’s Degrees. Mrs. Smith was Baptist by faith and a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith began her teaching career at Bethsaida in Neshoba County. She also taught school in Corinth, MS, LaBelle, FL, and Englewood, FL. Throughout her life, Zudye was an avid tennis player. This love for the game was highlighted with her participation in the Senior Olympics in St. Louis, MO, and a visit to Wimbledon in London, England. She played with and coached many individuals in the Philadelphia area. Mrs. Smith is survived by three daughters: The Rev. Jo S. Hollman (Harold) of Jackson, MS, Zudith L. Manning, PhD, of Philadelphia, and Cheri S. Williams, LPC (David) of Vicksburg; one sister, Dixie Jordan of Kosciusko; and one brother, Dr. Lester C. Willis (Jo Ann) of Ecru, MS. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Hal Hollman of Brandon, MS, Glenn Hollman of Pensacola, FL, Holly Hollman Smith (Jay) of Falls Church, VA, Jodi Hollman Jackson (Mike) of Birmingham, AL, Misty Williams Reardon (Andy) of Italy, Sunny Williams (Mike) of Seattle, WA, Willis Williams (Angela) of Byram, MS, and Michael Nelson (Holly) of Ft. Myers, FL. She also had 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. M. Glenn Smith; son, Michael Glenn Smith; parents, Leroy and Lizzie Divine Willis; sisters, Ruby Mohon, Hazel Johnson, Naomi Ryals; and brothers, Theo, Hester, and Max Willis.The family expresses their gratitude to Riggs Manor, Raymond, MS, and Compassus. Special thanks go to the caregivers at Smith House, named for Mrs. Smith on her 100th birthday.Pallbearers are Willis Williams; Pruett Willis, Dr. Todd Willis, Dr. Turner Willis, Gerald Jordan, Johnny Jordan, Jeremy Cummins and Tim Willis. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Bethsaida Baptist Church, or Riggs Manor Sunday Fund.
