A memorial graveside service for Moncreath “Bud” Kennedy will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 2 p. m. from Hope Cemetery in Neshoba County with Rev. Mack Alford officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday from 11:30 a. m. until 1:30 at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Moncreath “Bud” Maynard Kennedy passed away on November 30, 2018, at the Neshoba County Hospital in Philadelphia, MS. He was 94 years old. A native of Philadelphia, MS, Mr. Kennedy graduated from Coldwater High School in Neshoba County in April of 1942. He served our country in WW II as a member of the U.S. Army, 245th Combat Engineer Battalion, Company Medic. He was wounded in a battle near the Saar River in Germany and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Mr. Kennedy graduated from East Central Junior College in Decatur, MS and MS State University. After teaching agriculture at Dixon High School in Neshoba County, he worked with Gulf Oil Company, Chrysler Corporation/Space Division, and then for 20 years he was employed with the MS Employment Security Commission where he retired in 1989. After retirement, he worked with Delta Gamma Sorority at MS State University as night security for 10 years and later he worked as a driver with Enterprise Car Rental. He was a Methodist by faith. The last three years of his life Mr. Kennedy lived at Atwood Personal Care Home in Philadelphia, MS, where he found fun, loving and caring friends in staff and fellow residents. Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his parents, Maynard and Lucia Kennedy; sisters, Beverly Clark, and Bobbie Risher; brothers-in-law, Murice Clark and Thomas Risher; and granddaughter, Heather Dixon. He is survived by his four children, Susan Simmons of Philadelphia, MS, Craig (Mary Jane) Kennedy of Brandon, MS, Janet Kennedy of Brandon, MS, and Lisa (Tom) Perkins of Philadelphia, MS; one sister, Mary Evelyn (Afton) Pike of Hideaway, TX; grandchildren, Joni Baugh, Patrick Simmons, Anna Adcock, and Charlie Perkins; great grandchildren, Malik Dixon, Sage Dixon, Jillian Adcock, Samuel Adcock, Audrey Simmons, and Jordan Simmons; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and their families.
