Services for Mildred “Granny” Rushing will be held Sunday, October 28, 2018, at 2 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Dr. Wayne Hill and Rev. Jeff Walton officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Noxapater, MS. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 27, 2018, from 5 until 8:30 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Rushing, 97, of Noxapater, died Friday, October 26, 2018, at Neshoba General Nursing Home in Philadelphia. She was a native and lifelong resident of Neshoba County. She was a homemaker and loved gardening. Mrs. Rushing was a member of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church of Noxapater. Survivors include sons, Richard Rushing (Rachel) and Charley Rushing (Janie), both of Noxapater; sixteen grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Verbie Lois Shoemaker of Morton; brother, Melvin “Sonny” Myers (Bobbie) of Longview, TX; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rushing was preceded in death by husband, R. L. Rushing; daughter, Marguriete Cole; son, Thomas Dwight Rushing; great-granddaughter, Jamie Jackson Smith; great-grandson, Christian Reed Rushing; parents, Bud and Mable Myers sister, Nana Bell Peebles; and brother, Herman Myers.
