Michael Dale Luke

Services will be held on Friday October 14, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Bro. David Keller and Bro. Mike Sims officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday October 13, 2022, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Luke Family Cemetery. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Coach Luke, 70, of Kemper County, died Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at his home. Born and raised in Kemper County, MS, he was a high school class of 1969 graduate from Noxubee County High School. He graduated from EMJC in 1972 where he played basketball; and later graduated from Mississippi State University in 1974. He coached basketball at Carthage High School for three years. In 1977 he was elected supervisor of Kemper County and served until his passing. He also coached basketball at Neshoba Central, Philadelphia, Choctaw Central, Kemper County, and Kemper Academy. He enjoyed farming as a “hobby”. He dearly loved his girls and grandchildren. Coach Luke was a member of Coy Community Church. He left behind a legacy of leadership that will be remembered for years to come. He never met a stranger and he loved to talk. He also loved coaching. He touched countless lives on and off the court. He taught life lessons that will continue to change lives long after he is gone. He loved Kemper County and he loved the people of Kemper county. Mike was a friend to all. Survivors include daughters, Emily Lee of Meridian, MS, and Amy Ivy (Sean Norcross) of Clarkdale, MS; grandchildren, Braxton Lee, Kayde Lee, Jake Lee, Payton Ivy, and Laykin Ivy; sister, Anne Adams (Hunter) of Meridian, MS; brother, Tony Luke (Paula) of Preston, MS; several nieces, nephews, and their families; and special friend, Marsha Stovall. Preceding Coach Luke in death were his parents, Vanzee and Marceline Luke, brother and sister-in-law, C. A. and Jan Luke. Pallbearers are Javarious Prince, Lewis Little, Stan Copeland, David Barefield, Mike Gully, and Dwight Jackson. Honorary pallbearers are Kemper County Board of Supervisors. In lieu of flowers, please make all memorials to Coy Community Church Honduras Fund.
