Services for Melvin Wolverton will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 2 p.m. from First United Pentecostal Church of Philadelphia with Rev. Tim Vowell, Rev. Jason Martin and Rev. Albert Reid officiating. Burial will follow in Henry’s Chapel Cemetery in Neshoba County. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11 a. m. until time for service at the church. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Wolverton, 88, of Philadelphia, MS, died February 25, 2018, at Merit Health Central in Jackson, MS. A native of Sebastopol, MS, he lived in Jackson for most of his adult life where he retired from Siemens Industry in Richland as a maintenance supervisor in 1992. Mr. Wolverton was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Philadelphia. He served in the U. S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Wolverton of Philadelphia; stepdaughters, Lisa (Randal) Williamson of Philadelphia and Mary Ann Davis of McComb; stepson, Mike (Lea Ann) Evans of Florence; grandchildren, Brandi (Jason) Martin, Amber Williamson, Justin (Lauren) Evans, Braydon Evans, Andre (Ashley) Davis and Shannon (Morgan) Davis; great-grandchildren, Caelan Martin, Cade Martin, Lola Evans, Lili Davis and Isbella Davis; brothers, Gerald (Lorese) Wolverton of Madison and Larry (Angie) Wolverton of Sebastopol; sisters, Audele Dodson of Terry, Lynda Moorehead of Sebastopol; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Wolverton was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Matilda Wolverton; and brothers, Junior Wolverton and Charles Wolverton. Pallbearers are Jake Wolverton, Tim Wolverton, Craig Wolverton, Mike Wolverton, Wesley Lovern and Charles Martin. Honorary pallbearers are Craig Nowell, Harmon Lovern, Stevie Joe Stovall and Keith King.
