Mauvene Sharp Thomas

Services will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Jerry Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Ocobla Cemetery in Neshoba County. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 until time of service at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Mrs. Thomas, 99, of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at the Neshoba County Nursing Home. Mauvene Sharp Thomas was born to I. D. and Ruby Sharp on November 19, 1923. She married Therman Thomas on September 5, 1942. Ms. Mauvene was a housewife and mother to four girls. She was their doctor, nurse, hairdresser and seamstress, making all kinds of clothes for her girls. She worked at Monroe Williams, Stubbs Sew and Save, and the Neshoba County Co-op. Later she and Mr. Thomas ran the Co-op service station for several years until retirement. She and Mr. Therman had a farm in the Bloomo Community, where they raised cattle and vegetables. Mrs. Thomas was a longtime member of Ocobla Baptist Church. Survivors include daughters, Charlotte Bishop (Jerry), Judy Allen, Jean Fulton (Art), Patsy McGee (Bill); seven grandchildren, Greg Bishop, Lea Ann Anderson, Thomas Allen, Cindy Byrd, Davis Fulton, Scott McGee and Helen McGee; 10 great-grandchildren, Dalton, Jessica, Brady, Eli, AnneTaylor, Olivia, Grayson, Graham, Conner and Whyatt; two sisters, Estelle Fowler and Alice Todd; two sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews and their families. Preceding Mrs. Thomas in death were her husband, Therman Thomas; parents; four sisters; four brothers; and a son-in-law. Pallbearers are Greg Bishop, Thomas Allen, Davis Fulton, Scott McGee, Jerry Byrd, and Brian Anderson.
