Mattie Bell "Pee Wee" Franklin

January 12, 1932 — October 25, 2019

Services for Mattie Bell “Pee Wee” Franklin” will be held Sunday, October 27, 2019, at 2 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Tom McCurley officiating.  Burial will follow in Ocobla Cemetery in Neshoba County.  Visitation will be held Sunday from 9:00 a. m. until time of service.  McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Ms. Franklin, 87, of Philadelphia, died Friday, October 25, 2019, at Neshoba County Nursing Home. She was a native and lifelong resident of Neshoba County.  She worked at Wells-Lamont Glove Factory for several years; and then she was in the grocery business for a number of years.  Mrs. Franklin was a member of Ocobla Baptist Church where she was known as the church greeter. Survivors include three daughters, Kathy Thomas (James) of Philadelphia, MS, Tammy McCoy of Calera, AL, Shirley F. McDaniel (Scotty) of Philadelphia, MS; grandchildren, Brande Winstead (Mark), Tosha Nowell (Jeremy), Krystal Arnold, Erik McDaniel (Lauren), Grant McDaniel, Laurin Overstreet (Daniel); great-grandchildren, Tyler Winstead (Ashton), Chandler Winstead (Julianna), Karlea Winstead, Mattie Kaitlyn Nowell, Logan Nowell, Hallie Arnold, Will Arnold, Emmie Lane McDaniel, Hollis McDaniel, Andie McDaniel; brother, Jack Thrash of Philadelphia, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews. Ms. Franklin was preceded in death by parents, Jim and Lula Mae Thrash; brother, Willis Thrash; sisters, Polly Fortenberry and Katherine Alderman; and several half-sisters and half-brothers. Pallbearers are Erik McDaniel, Grant McDaniel, Tyler Winstead, Chandler Winstead, Logan Nowell and Will Arnold.
