Mary L Holmes

Graveside services for Mary L. Holmes will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 11 a.m. from Herbert Cemetery with Rev. Hal Selby officiating. McClain-Hays is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Holmes, of Starkville, died Saturday, May 1, 2021. She was a native of Neshoba County and lived most of her life in Starkville. She married Willie Holmes in Meridian, MS on November 18, 1957 and they were married for 63 years. She begin her career opening Winn Dixie grocery stores, a job the she adored and spent most of her adult life as a banker from which she retired. Mary loved her family and Muffin her cat and MSU football. Survivors include her nephews, Charles Barrett of Philadelphia, Roy Barrett, Jr. of Huntsville, AL and Ronnie Williams of Hattiesburg; nephew-in-love, Todd Fesmire of Sturgis, MS; niece-in-love, Bronwyn Anderson of Sturgis, MS; a host of great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces. Mrs. Holmes is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Holmes; parents, Vardaman and Estelle Williamson; sisters, Edna Earl Barrett, Dorothy Williams and Sarah Alice Barrett; nieces, Cynthia Tolbert and Francis Pierce; nephew, Calvin (Sonny) Williams, Jr.
