Funeral services for Mary Katherine Akins Sullivan will be held Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 3 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Bro. Dennis Duvall officiating. Burial will follow in Burnside Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 1 p.m. until service time at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Mrs. Sullivan,81, of Philadelphia died Thursday, April 11, 2024. Mary was born and raised in Neshoba County and a longtime resident of the Burnside Community and had attended Longino Community School. She loved to hear her children sing in church and always looked forward to going Christmas shopping with her daughter Lisa and the grandchildren. She always like to tell you how to drive even though she didn’t have her own license. Mary loved to travel later in life, loved raising chickens, rabbits and calves, watching old westerns and Murder She Wrote. Everyone loved her coconut cake and cornbread dressing and she dearly loved her family and will be missed by them. Mrs. Sullivan was a faithful member of Burnside Baptist Church for many years and most recently attended Kingdom Hall. Survivors include her husband, Tommy Lee Sullivan, Sr. of Philadelphia; sons, Tommy Lee Sullivan, Jr. (Sarah) of Collinsville and Dennis Sullivan (LeAnn) of Decatur; son-in-law, Robert Channell Jr. of Ackerman; grandchildren, Ashley P. Gary (Rob) of Eupora, Nichole Wilson (Dustin) of Philadelphia, Hannah Sullivan (Kollin Razmi) of Decatur, Jason Channell of Vicksburg, Samuel T. Sullivan (Alyssa) of Carthage, Jonathan Sullivan (Chloe) of Decatur, Andrew Sullivan of Pensacola FL and Jacob L. Sullivan of Collinsville; 15 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Earline Akins of Philadelphia; and several nieces, nephews and their families. Mrs. Sullivan was preceded in death by her parents, Wade and Mary Akins; daughter, Alesia (Lisa) Channell; sisters, Clara Johnson, Sarah Peebles and Ilene McGee; brothers, Dub, Joe, Carol and Perry Akins. Pallbearers, Rob Gary, Jason Channell, Sam Sullivan, Andrew Sullivan, Jacob Sullivan and Jonathan Sullivan. Honorary Pallbearers, Dustin Wilson and Kollin Razmi.
