Funeral services for Martha Jane Smith Blankenship will be held Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Reverend Tom Bentley officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Blankenship, 76, died Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, Mississippi. She was born, raised and lived most of her life in Philadelphia, Mississippi. She was in the banking business for many years. Only after meeting and marrying the love of her life did she leave Mississippi to live in Brunswick, Maine, where her husband was stationed in the U.S. Navy. While living in Maine, she continued to work in banking. Two years later they moved back to Philadelphia where she went to work for Dr. Rudolph Posey, Sr. and Dr. Rudolph Posey, Jr. in their dental practice until she retired. She made many friends after working so many years in the public. She enjoyed helping elderly friends with their accounting, working with her flowers and cooking for her husband. She was a member of Hight Assembly of God Church. Survivors include her loving husband of thirty-three years, Murry Blankenship; sister and brother-in-law, Melva Ruth and Kenneth Gray; nieces, Tammy Gray Ferguson (Mark), Phoebe Gray Henson and Wendy Gray Smith (Terry); great nephews and nieces, Johnathan Ferguson (Angelica) of Union, Mississippi, Amelia Henson Rowell (Austin) of Madison, Alabama, Cooper Smith (Kinsey), Zoie Henson and Caleb Smith all of Philadelphia; great-great nephews and niece, Hayden, Levi and Gracynn Ferguson of Union; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Karen and Johnny Enoch and their daughters, Kristie and Jenny of Bartlett, Tennessee. Mrs. Blankenship was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Carrie Smith; nephew-in-law, Jim Henson; in-laws, James and Maggie Blankenship. Pallbearers will be Terry Smith, Cooper Smith, Caleb Smith, Mark Ferguson, Johnathan Ferguson, Austin Rowell, Johnny Enoch and Jeff Smith.
