Marie Goldman Myers, 88, passed away at her home in the Indian Springs/Plattsburg Community on Friday, April 11, 2025.  She was the youngest child born to Floyd and Jewel McBeath Goldman in Neshoba County on October 17, 1936. Floyd moved the family from the Hope Community in Neshoba County to the current farm in Winston County in 1938. This has been her home and favorite place ever since.  Marie had several older siblings, which meant she had nieces and nephews at an early age. She didn’t think “Aunt” suited her at such a young age, so she was simply “Re” to most of the family.  Re became a mother figure to a lot of the nieces and nephews, even providing a home to some so they could continue attending their school when their family moved from the farm.

Marie married Bruner Myers on July 3, 1959, on the front porch of Brother Ethel Beall’s home, with his wife, Mrs. Beall, holding the flashlight. They didn’t need to have a fancy wedding to enjoy all their years together.  They settled into life on the farm, while still working public jobs, but in 1972 decided farm life was for them. They started a Grade A dairy and never looked back. In 1995, they built breeder poultry houses and decided to turn the dairy herd into a beef herd. Marie always loved being on the farm.

In 1974, Marie became a mother. She and Bruner welcomed a daughter. Marie was always an active mom. She was usually found in the group of kids playing tag or loading up a bunch to either take them to the zoo, State Capital, or to the movies. It never mattered that she was usually the oldest mom there. She was always in the middle of the kids.

Aunt may have not been her favorite title, but Mamaw sure was. And like all those years ago, she was a Mamaw figure to several kids that came into her life. Marie loved her family, blood related or not, deeply and was always just a phone call away. Everyone seemed to gravitate to her.  She was the glue that held a lot of people together.

Marie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Clarence Goodin, granddaughter, Hillary Goodin, and great grandson, Grayson Triplett. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Bruner Myers; her parents, Floyd and Jewel Goldman; brothers, Willard Goldman, Cuevas Goldman, and Archie Goldman; sisters, Mavis Goldman Burkes Addkinson and Waudine Goldman Nowell; brothers-in-law, Edgar Burkes, Quinton Addkinson, and Jack Nowell; sister-in-law, Jaunita Sisson Goldman; nephews Ferlon Goldman, Sammy Goldman, Donald Nowell, and Roger Gillett; nieces, Wanda Faye Goldman Grimes, Linda Kay Goldman Camus, and Betty Burkes Parkes.

Pallbearers are Steve Womble, Brandon Womble, Johnathan Nowell, Joey Nowell, Jerry Jack Nowell, Donald Joe Nowell, and Jeremiah Gillett
