In lieu of flowers family requests all memorials be made to The Mustard Seed 1085 Luckney Road Flowood, Ms. 39047 or www.mustardseedms.org When Margie Lewis Harrison was born in 1926, a gallon of milk was 55 cents. There were more wagons on the road than cars. More than half of the country farmed and less than half had electricity. By the time Margie passed away on December 17, 2023 at the age of 97, this world hardly resembled the one she was born into. While the world around her changed drastically, Margie remained steadfast over the years. She was a longtime resident of Forest, MS where she and her family operated a Western Auto store on the square for 23 years. She was a woman in constant motion. If you were in the Harrison household, even until recently, you may have witnessed her perch on a chair for a minute to visit, only to flutter off shortly after to return to her seemingly endless chores. Margie showed her love through acts of service, mainly cooking. Her family felt this love, three times a day, for over 80 years. Margie took it upon herself to make sure everyone that stepped in her door was fed, regardless of how hungry they arrived. Her family and friends remember her as a servant to others. One of her daughters joked that if she didn’t get out of the kitchen, her grandchildren would only remember her rear end in front of the kitchen sink. But her family remembers much more than that. They remember the constant selflessness that she approached life with. They remember her dry humor that she would sneak into conversation and that persisted far into old age, even when her health gave her an excuse to be bitter. They remember a woman who was determined, resilient, and maybe even stubborn at times. Most of all, they remember the love that she showed them until the end of her days. Margie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Harrison, of 69 years, her daughter, Brenda McNeil, and her grandson Scott Elam. She will also join her parents William Lester Lewis and Lula Lee Stribling Lewis. Preceding her are also her siblings Cecil Lee Lewis, Hazel Gwendolin Lewis, William Albert Lewis, and Bonnie Glenn Lewis Milling. She is survived by 5 children: Sarah Elam (Bill) of Brandon, MS; Charlotte Cochran of Brandon, MS; Deborah Rushing (Johnny) of Morton, MS; Mary Charles Dickens (Britt) of Brandon, MS; and Pat Harrison of Forest, MS. She is survived by 6 grandchildren: Sam Cochran of Oxford, MS; Jessica Woods of Gonzales, LA; Sarah Elizabeth Tadlock of Florence, MS; Matthew McNeil of Brandon, MS; Kate Dickens of Brandon, MS; and Harrison Dickens of Fayetteville, AR. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and her sister, Mary Frank Willis of Philadelphia, MS. All of which will miss her dearly.
