Margaret Frances Dees Dowdy

A graveside service will be held for Mrs. Margaret Frances Dees Dowdy on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at 11:00 a. m. from Cedarlawn Cemetery with Rev. Chris Young officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Dowdy, 82, of Philadelphia, died Friday, December 4, 2020, at Anderson Regional Medical Hospital in Meridian. A native and lifelong resident of Neshoba County, she was a graduate of PHS in 1956 where she was a drum major and Miss PHS. After working and retirement from Thomasson Lumber Company in 1998, she really enjoyed being with family, especially her grandkids. Mrs. Dowdy was a member of First United Methodist Church of Philadelphia where she was active with her church family. Survivors include daughter, Judy (Dewayne) Sharp; and son, Craig (Trish) Dowdy, both of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Cindi Sharp (Kyle) Kennedy, Jody (Aarah) Sharp, Drew (Brittany) Dowdy, Katie (Dustin) DePriest; great-grandchildren, Margaret Dees Kennedy (Cody) Simmons, Lynna Clair Kennedy, Lynnzie Caroline Kennedy, Paxton Sharp, Peyton Sharp, Maylee Dowdy, and Dax DePriest; sister, Carol (Mundy) Breazeale of Philadelphia; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Dowdy was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Lynn Dowdy; and parents, Elmer and Marguerite Dees. Pallbearers are Jody Sharp, Kyle Kennedy, Drew Dowdy, Dustin DePriest, Keith Gaines, and Brian VanDevender. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Franklin Graham Ministries.
