Funeral services for Mable Dorothy George will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 12 noon from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Randy Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 10 am until service time at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. George, 94, of Gautier, MS, died Sunday, November 28, 2021. Dorothy (May) George was born December 8, 1926 to Clark and Annie (McBrayer) May. She was a native of the Forestdale Community of Neshoba County and a longtime resident of Kemper County. She lived with her daughter in Gautier for the past several years. She formerly worked at Well-Lamont and McKee’s IGA in Philadelphia. Mrs. George was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Jean Smith (Marshall); son-in-law, Dewey Johnson; grandchildren, Penny Holmes (Derek), Joe Johnson (Briana) and Wendy George; great- grandchildren, Claire, Madeline and Grant Holmes, Cash, Wyndham, and Flint Johnson, Tori Dumas, Janie and Jaden; a host of nieces, nephews and their families. Mrs. George was preceded in death by her husband, J.V. George; son, Gary V. George; daughter, Patricia Ann Johnson; parents, Clark and Annie May; sisters, Sarah Cherry, Mary Buell, Evelyn Nicholson and Betty Jean Pinter; brother, J.C. May. In lieu of flowers the family requested memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s research or your favorite charity. Pallbearers, Derek Holmes, Grant Holmes, Dale Alford, Dewey Johnson, Joe Johnson and Marshall Smith.
