CHUCK MEADOR Mrs. Tingle, 88, of Meridian, died Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at The Oaks Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Meridian.Born in Neshoba, she spent her adult life in Preston and Meridian, MS. In her younger years Lyda worked at Wells-Lamont in Philadelphia. She later became a beautician and owned Palmer’s Kut and Kurl near Preston. Mrs. Tingle was a faithful member of Poplar Springs United Methodist Church in Meridian and previously a member of Coy United Methodist Church in Preston. Lyda was an active member of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years, having served as Worthy Matron, District Officer, Grand Esther, and other positions in Preston, Philadelphia and Meridian area chapters. She was a member of the Obadiah Homemakers Club in Meridian. Many people will remember her crocheted afghans, ornaments, baby blankets, and other items. Survivors include stepsons, Ross Tingle, Jr. of Meridian, MS, and Jim Tingle of Mansfield, GA; special niece, Debbie Christie of Jackson; and a number of other nieces and nephews, cousins and grandchildren. Mrs. Tingle was preceded in death by husbands, Ross Tingle, Sr., J. W. Hailey, and W. C. Palmer, Jr.; sisters, Fannie Bee (Dixie) Spitzer of San Jose, CA, and Katie Westerfield of Florence, MS; and special nephew, Paul Ball of Hattiesburg, MS.
