With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Loran “Boots” Collins, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left us peacefully at the age of 87 on January 17, 2025. Originally from Stilwell, OK, Loran devoted 20 years of his life to serving in the U.S. Air Force, embodying the values of commitment and dedication. After his military career, he transitioned into the world of technology, starting at Burroughs Corp. in Biloxi MS. Driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, he established Micro Computer Service, which successfully operated in Biloxi and later in Jackson for 15 years before retiring to focus on family. While Loran had a knack for working with computers, it was his time spent with family and friends that brought him the most joy. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Biloxi and, after moving to Kemper County, joined the community at Big Oak Methodist Church, where he continued to foster relationships and give back. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Ann Collins of Dekalb; son Bob (Lori) Collins of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren Daniel Collins of Huntsville, AL, and Rachel (Michael) Collins of Columbia, SC; and siblings Linda Collins, Gene (Cathy) Collins, Dave (Sandra) Collins, and Wilbur (Gail) Collins, along with sisters-in-law Dorine Collins and Betsy Collins. He was preceded in death by his son Ray Collins; parents Otis and Martha Collins; and brothers Bill, J.C. and Ivy Collins. Pallbearers are Alan Key, Brandon Key, Brad Talley, Alex George, Peyton George and Michael Gibson.
